Underground, the college group at First Baptist Church, exists to reflect God to a broken world by forming Christ in community. That, and that alone, drives us.
We know that going to college is difficult and stressful. Yet students can benefit by becoming part of a church body with which to fellowship and grow. Underground is dedicated to building real community, real relationship with those around us. We want students to come to our college group to be loved... and also to be challenged.
Underground AM / Sunday mornings @ 11:00
Encountering the living God through an in-depth, fresh study of the Bible. We are committed to the Word of God. On Sunday mornings, immediately following the worship service, the college group meets for Underground AM. We are convinced that the study, interpretation, and application of God's Word are central to a growing relationship with God.
Underground PM / Sunday nights @ 7:00
Forming Christ in community, with worship, food, laughter, Christian literature, care, and accountability. This ministry is based around small groups, which provide an avenue
to build relationships with other students and a format to hold one
another accountable with different aspects of the Christian life. Small group members build each other up as men and
women of God, worship together, and think together. Food is served at the church at
7:00, and Underground starts shortly after.
Friday Night Bites / every other Friday night @ 6:30
Free, home-cooked food, with activities like movies, bowling, etc. afterward. One of the worst parts of college life is dorm food. We get that. So we created Friday Night Bites so that Friday nights don't, well, bite. Members of the church cook a great dinner, and then we all hang out together.
