Underground

Underground, the college group at First Baptist Church, exists to reflect God to a broken world by forming Christ in community.  That, and that alone, drives us.

We know that going to college is difficult and stressful.  Yet students can benefit by becoming part of a church body where they can find fellowship and growth.  Underground is dedicated to building real community and real relationships with those around us.  We want students to come to our college group to be loved... and also to be challenged.

Underground / Sunday nights @ 7:00

Forming Christ in community with worship, food, laughter, Christian literature, care, and accountability.

Underground BBQ
This is the centerpiece of the college group.  It's small group-based, providing a perfect context for building relationships and growing closer to God through accountability, thought, service to others, and music.  Food is served at the church at 7:00, and Underground starts shortly after.

Friday Night Bites / every other Friday night @ 6:30

Free, home-cooked food, with activities like movies, bowling, etc. afterward. One of the worst parts of college life is dorm food.  We get that.  So we created Friday Night Bites so that Friday nights don't, well, bite.  Members of the church cook a great dinner, and then we hang out together.  This is a fun time, as well as an easy way to get to know us.  To see when FNB is happening next, check the calendar, or RSVP on facebook each time.

We have service opportunities and other activities, too!  Check out Underground on Facebook to get the latest scoop or contact Ben Makuh.

What is the Ideal Undergroundee?

In other words, what does someone look like after they've spent time here?  We think that people can't help but change (in a good way) once they encounter the Gospel.  We've made a list of traits we want to see in ourselves, and we call it the Ideal Undergroundee.  Check it out.
