The Book of Judges – Wanted: A Few Good People
A Dining Room Class, moderated by Dan Breuch, Garett Doyle and Ben Makuh
(Room 204)
Description: Join us as we look at the fourteen judges of Israel in the time after Joshua ruled. We will study the various personalities and characteristics of the judges that God called to deliver the nation of Israel. During this time, Israel suffered from poverty, slavery, invasions and civil war. The people lived according to their own personal moral standards, believers disagreed and many were trapped in a variety of sin. They dealt with many of the same challenges our own society is facing today. We will examine how God used a few good judges to confront the enemy.
Christianese – A Look at Christian Terms
A Dining Room Class, moderated by Jon Banks and Jody Summers
(Room 219)
Description: Sometimes the terms we use about our faith seem over used or hard to understand. We may have never stopped to think deeply about some of the words we hear or use. In this class we will stop and focus clearly on some ‘Big Words’ like ‘Propitiations’ and ‘Sanctification’. We also will look deeply into words like ‘Grace’ and ‘Holy’. In these terms there is more than just a big word that needs to be defined – but rather these words contain deep truths about God and the Christian life. Through our time we will explore these terms and concepts as they are shown in the Bible. In addition to how they make a true difference in the depth and character of our walk with God. The opportunity will be given for some ideas of terms to be suggested by participants.
